Online group exhibition «I love you. Do not be afraid» (OPEN call)
The online platform Wall hosts a group exhibition "I love you. Do not be afraid" October 28 - November 28, 2020.
Part of my series "F65.4" is participating in the exhibition.
Curated by Ekaterina Vasilieva. Curator's text:
Our life today is so full of conflicts and contradictions that it becomes difficult for people to be in harmony with society. One of the ways a person adapts to the world is the need for love and affection as a protective mechanism of his own «I». Finding love seems to be the most logical and direct way to get any type of affection, help, or understanding. The conceptual game component of this exhibition is also built on the need for love and contradiction.
The order of the statements of the selected authors was determined by the exact order of the letters received from them, only in reverse order. The last author starts the game and the first one ends.
The surrealists focused on the transition of art to a new level, when the author no longer plays a key role in creative activity, but is only its mediator. Gourmet Corpse was one of the most famous surreal games out there. It was also called the «note game». The meaning of the game was that each of its participants had to supplement the phrase with their own word, not knowing the words written by others. The result was unexpected verbal combinations and a kind of collective storytelling, at first glance, completely absurd.
Such a method today can be directly related to the postmodern one, which manifests itself in a wide combination of a wide variety of methods and techniques in the analysis of any phenomenon, which often creates the effect of collage, eclecticism, a random combination of various designs. The elimination of linearity and progress turns out to be natural and logical. Time breaks up into episodes, space into fragments, there is no coherent and consistent strategy, except for one — sorting out different possibilities of playing life.
